Driven by the goal of establishing an equitable and dependable reward system for our approved testers, resulting in the creation of distinct benchmarks for advancing in their testing careers we decided to rebuild our Tester Levels system. Our strategy aimed to inspire testers to enhance their testing skills as they progress through the ranks, unlocking a range of rewards and benefits along the way.
The hierarchical structure consists of 5 Levels:
Level 1: Copper
Level 2: Bronze
Level 3: Silver
Level 4: Gold
Level 5: Diamond
Criteria for Tester Levels
Each level is determined by specific criteria, with varying thresholds for advancement based on:
Total number of submitted bugs.
The number of bugs submitted in the last 90 days.
Bug approval rate in the last 90 days.
Cybersecurity course.
Threshold Requirements
Level | Submitted bugs in total | Submitted bugs in the last 90 days | Bug approval rate in the last 90 days | Cybersecurity course needed? |
1. Copper | No requirements | No requirements | No requirements | No |
2. Bronze | > 50 bugs | > 10 bugs | over 50% | Yes |
3. Silver | > 100 bugs | > 15 bugs | over 60% | Yes |
4. Gold | > 150 Bugs | > 15 bugs | over 70% | Yes |
5. Diamond | > 200 bugs | > 20 bugs | over 75% | Yes |
Process
Testers will automatically be assigned to the level that is appropriate for them according to their performance of the criteria.
Greenhorn testers will by default be included in the Copper level.
Testers who upgrade or downgrade their level during participation in any test cycle will see the benefits/effects of their new level from the next test cycle they accept.
Benefits
Each level offers additional benefits to testers, with lower-level benefits retained as testers progress. Some of the amazing benefits included are:
Level | Guaranteed benefit | Potential benefit |
1. Copper |

2. Bronze |

3. Silver |

Note: Not all potential benefits are displayed in the table above.
Testers located in Level 1: Copper can join only 2 running test cycles at the same time. In order to join any other cycle, you will need to quit one of the 2 tests and free the seat. Afterward, you will be able to join other cycles.
Remember: The eligibility for certain benefits means that the tester belongs to the crowd that will be taken into consideration when it comes for instance to reimbursement programs or freelance Community positions.
Tester Level Visuals
In conjunction with implementing the new Tester Level system, we've introduced aesthetically appealing visual insignias denoting different Tester Levels. These visual badges and icons will prominently display on the tester's avatar, within their profile, and across associated areas, as discernible markers of their testing proficiency and progression.

In-Level Ranking
Concurrently with the implementation of visual indicators, we've introduced the 'In-Level Ranking' feature, empowering testers to track and compare their performance among peers within the same Tester Level. This innovative tool is accessible through the 'Tester Ranking' section within the Tester Dashboard, providing a means for testers to track their progress and standing relative to others at their level.
