Automate Community Manager Denis

Please tell us about yourself

My name is Denis and I'm from Minsk. I started my journey in IT in 2011 as a software engineer, but after several months I understood that the quality control stage of software is more interesting for me. So, my total experience in testing and QA is more than 10 years.

I have a lot of interests and hobbies. The most valuable thing for me – mind games. I’ve been playing different mind games for more than 20 years.

Also, I like football, rock music, cooking, cars, poker, traveling and good sauna. I’m a happy husband and a happy Akita Inu holder.

I like Italian and French cuisines. My favorite music band is Pink Floyd. I like Stanley Kubrick's movies: A Clockwork Orange, Eyes Wide Shut, and The Shining.

How would you describe yourself?

I'm calm and attentive - I believe that's the most important thing for a tester.

What are your daily tasks at your job? What difficulties are you facing? What do you like the most in your work?

Most of my daily tasks are related to communication. I play a community manager role and need to communicate with a lot of people on a daily basis. I work on people's engagement, and attraction and try to capture attention. The dark side of the work is a lot of reporting, information collection, and monitoring. I like the ability to work with people, because all people are different, and finding a proper communication style and channel for a person is a key.

Are there any changes expected on the platform in the near future?

I hope that we are moving to some new stage of the platform lifecycle. I'm expecting more abilities for both customers and testers.

Do you like to travel? Which country inspired you the most (if so)? What was the most beautiful place you have ever visited?

Yes, travel is a great opportunity to change the environment and have a great rest and a lot of new emotions. The best place I visited is Cuba - it's a beautiful, but very specific country. I believe it is one of the best for IT-engineers, because there is no publicly available Wifi in Cuba at all.

What book would you recommend reading? (or movie)

I read mostly professional literature, so one of my favorite books is The Ideal Executive: Why You Cannot Be One and What to Do About It by Dr. Adizes. Also, I like books about some music bands, like Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd Out by Nick Mason.

If given the opportunity, what language would you learn and why?

Italian - I like everything about Italy: football, culture, music, and cuisine.

What would you suggest everyone try to do?

Play mind games - especially, visit some pub-quiz. It's a great hobby that combines game, thinking and communication with friends.

How much time a day do you spend on social media?

About 30 minutes. I have the rule to charge my iPhone every 3 days, so to save battery I limit my access to social networks.
