Streaming testing is a specialized form of software testing that focuses on ensuring the reliability, functionality, and quality of streaming services or applications. These services can include video streaming platforms, live streaming services, audio streaming apps, and any other platforms that deliver multimedia content over the internet in real time.

At Test IO, testers will usually perform Functional testing while testing a Streaming app. This aspect of streaming testing involves verifying that all features and functionalities of the streaming service work as intended. Testers assess whether users can seamlessly navigate the platform, access content, play videos or audio, pause/resume playback, adjust settings, and utilize additional features like playlists or recommendations.

Overall, streaming testing aims to validate the functionality, performance, and user experience of streaming services to deliver a seamless and enjoyable multimedia streaming experience to users. It involves a comprehensive approach that encompasses functional, compatibility, performance, UX, and content, aspects to ensure the quality and reliability of the streaming platform.

How can I be invited to an exploratory cycle for streaming devices' apps?

In order to get invited for the Streaming tests, two requirements need to be met:

  1. Add the Streaming devices to your device list.
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to test any app using emulated devices, so you must own a real-world one to start testing. Once you have it, you must add the device to your profile to receive invites for the cycles. You can learn more about how to add a new device to your Test IO account here.
Note: You must be careful to select the exact device version on the list and the OS to be invited to cycles. If the list does not contain your device or if the most updated OS version is not available to be selected, please contact our team so we can look into it.

  2. Pass the Streaming Testing course.
The second requirement to get invited to the Streaming tests is to pass our Streaming Testing course. You will find this course under the Learn tab which is located in the top navigation bar on the Tester Interface.
