Test IO Screencast Rules
This week’s newsletter addresses a crucial observation from recent Greenhorn tests.
Suppose you've submitted and executed the following User Story:
❝As a site visitor I can select Hotel+Flight search option, enter my departure airport and a destination, dates and the group size and launch the search.❞
Your comment is something like:
❝After visiting the website, I can locate and select the Hotel+Flight search option. I entered "Rochester, MN (JRC)" as my departure airport and "Mexico Reviera Maya (CU3)" as my destination place. I entered the departure date as 09/29/2023 and the return date as 10/02/2023. I selected 1 Hotel Room for 2 adults and 1 child of age 8 years. Then I tapped on the "Search" button. The search is initiated, and the "We are finding you the best beach vacations" message is shown to the user.❞
Beautiful description! Then the following exact 15-second screencast has been attached.
Before you continue reading further, please take a minute to observe and screencast as soon as possible to answer the question.
Will this User Story execution be accepted or rejected?
The answer: REJECTED!
Note that the taps are not seen, and this is one of our Screencast-specific rules!
☝️ Whether it is a User Story or a Bug Report, the attachment must show clicks and tap effects on both Desktop and Android devices.
Video Quality Matters!
Another overlooked aspect of screencast creation is its quality! For any task documentation that requires a screencast, ❝It's important, that you provide a .mp4 video of appropriate quality (resolution and presentation).❞
If you look at this video closely, the visible information is blurred, making it difficult to understand.
❗Remember that your videos are also evaluated by Team Leaders and reviewed by customers; think of whoever will watch your screencast beforehand.
